Carlos Romulo was appointed by President Marcos as Ambassador to the United States (1973-1981), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to the United States (1981-1985), and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Nations (1985-1987). He also served as Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law (1979-1981), President of the University of Asia and the Pacific (1982-1987), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Education through Liberalized Exchange (1974–1977) and member of numerous international boards. He is currently President of the Romulo Group, Inc., a holding company for his business interests.
OTHER lives may find their happiest moments infiltrated with tragedy, and their proudest touched with comedy. This had almost invariably been true of mine.
